MINT-EC Excellence Centre is a national network of schools with a secondary level II qualification and a well-defined profile in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Femtec has been a member of MINT-EC since January 2015.
The network of schools was created by employers in 2000, and have worked closely with the regional educational initiatives ever since. MINT-EC offers numerous events and support programmes for schoolchildren, as well as continuing education courses and a platform for an exchange of expertise for teachers and school directors. The network currently has 212 certified schools with approximately 230,000 pupils and 18,00 teachers. Since 2009, the network is a part of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany. Eligible schools may apply for membership in MINT-EC annually. An independent jury of specialists evaluates each school’s STEM profile, as well as the quality and quantity of STEM courses on offer.
